Position Summary
The Residential & Commercial Cleaner performs routine cleaning, deep cleaning, move-in and move-out cleaning, turnover cleaning, and property-readiness services for homes, apartments, offices, commercial buildings, common areas, and vacant properties. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, trustworthy, and able to work independently while meeting company quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Residential Cleaning
Clean kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, laundry rooms, entryways, and other assigned spaces.
Dust furniture, blinds, baseboards, ceiling fans, vents, trim, fixtures, and accessible surfaces.
Vacuum carpets and rugs; sweep and mop hard-surface flooring.
Clean mirrors, interior glass, window sills, doors, handles, and other high-touch areas.
Perform routine, deep, and recurring cleaning according to the assigned checklist and service scope.
Commercial Cleaning
Clean offices, lobbies, hallways, conference rooms, break rooms, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned commercial spaces.
Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
Dust, clean, and disinfect work areas and frequently touched surfaces.
Clean and restock restrooms and janitorial supplies as directed.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and professional appearance throughout the property.
Move-In and Move-Out Cleaning
Perform detailed move-in, move-out, turnover, and make-ready cleaning for residential and commercial properties.
Clean and sanitize kitchens, including sinks, countertops, backsplashes, cabinets, drawers, shelving, and appliances inside and out.
Thoroughly clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, tubs, showers, sinks, vanities, mirrors, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces.
Clean interior windows, window sills, blinds, doors, trim, baseboards, closets, light fixtures, vents, and ceiling fans.
Remove cobwebs, dust, dirt, trash, and light debris from all assigned and accessible areas.
Vacuum carpets and mop hard-surface flooring, paying special attention to corners, edges, and areas behind movable items.
Clean inside cabinets, closets, drawers, shelving, and other storage areas.
Prepare properties for new residents, tenants, owners, showings, inspections, or business occupancy.
Identify and report visible damage, maintenance concerns, missing items, pest activity, water intrusion, or safety hazards discovered during cleaning.
Complete a final walkthrough, correct cleaning deficiencies, and provide completion photos when required.
Quality Control and Documentation
Follow company cleaning checklists, product instructions, property access procedures, and client-specific service scopes.
Inspect completed work before leaving and correct missed or incomplete items.
Document completed services with notes and before-and-after photographs when required.
Report supply needs, access problems, damage, maintenance concerns, and delays promptly.
Protect keys, access codes, client property, resident belongings, and confidential information.
Customer Service and Teamwork
Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, tenants, clients, owners, vendors, and coworkers.
Communicate arrival, access, completion, and follow-up information through approved company channels.
Maintain a professional appearance and represent Motion Property Preservation positively at every assignment.
Work independently or as part of a cleaning team based on scheduling and property needs.
Required Qualifications
Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned properties.
Ability to pass applicable background screening.
Strong attention to detail, dependability, punctuality, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently, follow checklists, and complete assignments within scheduled timeframes.
Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, vacuums, mops, ladders, and other cleaning equipment.
Ability to use a smartphone for scheduling, communication, photos, and job documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous residential, commercial, janitorial, hospitality, housekeeping, or property-turnover cleaning experience.
Experience with move-in, move-out, deep-cleaning, or rent-ready assignments.
Property management or property preservation experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
Physical and Work Requirements
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods.
Climb step ladders and work indoors or outdoors in varying property conditions.
Travel between assignments and transport cleaning supplies or equipment as required.
Use required personal protective equipment and follow safe chemical-handling practices.
Schedule
Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available.
Schedules may include weekdays, evenings, or weekends based on property and client needs.
Work hours and assignment volume may vary by service schedule and property turnover activity.
Compensation
$15.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience, cleaning skills, reliability, productivity, and demonstrated work quality.
